The Center For Family Life and Recovery, Inc. has proudly recognized and supported Stand Up For Recovery Day every single year because of its commitment to the recovery community. By continuing this tradition, CFLR amplifies voices that deserve to be heard, highlights the importance of compassion and connection, and reinforces the message that no one walks the recovery journey alone. Each year represents advocacy, perseverance, and a promise to stand up loudly and proudly for recovery.
Stand Up for Recovery Day is an annual advocacy event hosted by FOR-NY (Faces & Voices of Recovery – New York) at the Empire Plaza Convention Center in Albany. This year it will be held on Tuesday, February 3rd. The event brings together people in recovery, peer supporters, families, providers, and allies to raise awareness of recovery needs and advocate for policies that support recovery across New York State. Participants meet with state legislators to share personal stories, discuss recovery-focused legislation, and promote improved access to services, harm reduction, workforce development, and stronger recovery communities.
This year onward, we are honored to introduce CFLR’s Ride for Reilly initiative in loving memory of Thomas Reilly. Tom dedicated over 35 years to the recovery community and faithfully joined CFLR staff each year to support Stand Up for Recovery Day. He was a trusted mentor, advocate, and friend – someone many looked up to for his unwavering compassion, quiet leadership, and deep belief in the dignity and power of recovery.
We invite you to honor Tom’s legacy by considering participation in our upcoming Ride for Reilly. Your support helps ensure that individuals in any part of their recovery journey, peer supporters, and community members have access to attend impactful advocacy events like Stand Up for Recovery Day. By joining this initiative, you are not only helping remove barriers to participation, but also strengthening the collective voice of the recovery community. This mission continues the work Tom cared so deeply about and ensuring that lived experience is represented where it matters most.
