Building Stronger Communities—Together
At CFLR, collaboration is at the heart of meaningful change. We work alongside schools, businesses, agencies, and community organizations to strengthen prevention efforts, expand recovery supports, and increase access to life-changing mental health and substance use services.
By partnering with us, you become part of a shared commitment to building a healthier, more resilient community. Together, we deliver collaborative programs tailored to local needs—empowering individuals, supporting families, and creating lasting impact.
Our Approach to Community Outreach
Community outreach at CFLR is not one-size-fits-all. We take the time to listen, understand, and respond to the unique needs of each community we serve.
Our outreach efforts are grounded in:
Working side-by-side with community partners to maximize impact.
Equipping individuals, families, and organizations with tools and knowledge.
Reducing stigma and increasing access to compassionate support.
Creating programs that evolve with the community and endure over time.
Community Outreach in Action
Below are examples of how CFLR partners with local organizations to meet people where they are and deliver meaningful support. Each initiative reflects our commitment to collaboration, responsiveness, and community-driven solutions.

CFLR was honored to walk in the Honor America Parade in Rome, NY over the summer, standing alongside community members in celebration of patriotism and service. It was a meaningful opportunity to show our support and be part of a proud local tradition.

In recognition of Erin’s Law and our shared commitment to addressing the opioid crisis, CFLR proudly hosted a Narcan training on May 16, 2025, at the New York State County Office Building in Utica. We were honored to be joined by Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, a dedicated advocate for prevention and community wellness.

In October 2025, the Prevention Team, in collaboration with our community partners – the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County Opioid Task Force, and the City of Utica Police Department – hosted our annual Take Back Day. This event holds tremendous weight because it allows us to see, in real time, the impact of our work within the community we call home. During the event, the Prevention Team and our partners engaged with community members who were actively helping to keep our neighborhoods, landfills, and waterways clean by safely disposing of expired and unused medications. The event also provided residents with a safe and secure location to dispose of used medical syringes. Take Back Day is especially meaningful because it allows us to witness prevention efforts in action and reinforces the importance of collective community responsibility.

During September 2025, the Prevention Team participated in Red Ribbon Week. This week is significant as it provides an opportunity to engage students, adults, families, and community residents in conversations centered on living healthy, drug-free lives. Throughout the week, the Prevention Team not only educated participants on the risks and dangers associated with substance use, but also shared our personal “why” – our daily commitment to promoting healthy choices, safety, and substance-free living. Red Ribbon Week serves as both, an educational and inspirational moment, strengthening our connection with the community we serve.
