NYS-Approved Impaired Driver Program Classes in Utica and Rome
CFLR’s Impaired Driver Program (IDP) offers New York State-approved classes for individuals who need to complete IDP requirements and obtain or maintain a conditional license. Classes are available at locations in Utica and Rome, with options on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings.
To register for classes, participants must sign up through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
About the Program
The Impaired Driver Program (IDP) is part of New York State’s effort to reduce injuries, disabilities, and fatalities related to alcohol- and drug-impaired driving. The program is designed to help reduce the risk of re-offense through education, reflection, and early screening.
Participants receive in-depth education about high-risk alcohol and drug use, along with tools to help identify and change dangerous behaviors. Classes include multimedia presentations, guided discussion, workbook activities, and a preliminary screening to identify possible substance use disorder risk factors.
Individuals who are found to be at risk for a substance use disorder may be referred for a comprehensive clinical assessment and treatment, if appropriate.

- Weekday evenings
CFLR offers IDP classes at multiple locations serving Oneida, Herkimer, and Lewis Counties.
All IDP instructors are approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and have completed extensive training.

Utica MVCC Classroom Directions
You can enter the building one of two ways:
If using the black arrow entrance, use the stairs to your left. At the top of the stairs, take a right to the corner of the building. Turn right again, and the classroom is next to the bathroom on your right.
If using the red arrow entrance, take the second door on the right and use the stairwell to the second floor. At the top, take a left down the short hallway, and Room 255 is at the end.
