Mission: Promoting good mental health through meaningful friendships.
Values: Respect*Trust*Hope*Empowerment

Center for Family Life and Recovery, Inc.’s Compeer program fosters good mental health and increased social skills by matching community volunteers in supportive mentoring friendships with at risk youth, adults, seniors, and veterans receiving mental health services in Oneida and Herkimer Counties, NY.

(OJJDP) Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention offers funding to support mentoring organizations in their efforts to strengthen and expand their existing mentoring activities in order to reduce juvenile delinquency and other at risk behaviors.

Volunteering with Compeer is a rewarding way to give back to the community and bring positivity and hope into the life of an individual in need. Just one caring friend is life changing for an individual striving for mental wellness.

Mentoring opportunities include:

1:1 Friendship- Volunteer is matched with a youth or adult in a 1:1 supportive friendship

Lunch Buddies- Volunteers join youth for lunch during school hours or on the weekends

Vet2Vet- Volunteer veterans are matched with client veterans in a 1:1 supportive friendship

Compeer calling- Volunteers communicate with match or individual on the waiting list via phone

E-Buddies- Volunteers communicate with match or individual on the waiting list via email

If you think you are the right person to provide meaningful friendship to an individual in need, please give Brandi Lyons, our Compeer Specialist a call at 315-733-1709 or email her at blyons@cflrinc.org
